PAINTING PROCESS

1. I applied a smooth base coat of Ak Interactive Natural Steel mixed with a small amount of Citadel Runelord Brass (70%/30%). I chose Natural Steel because it's super shiny and basically does all the work on its own. I mixed it with Runelord Brass to change its bluish hue to a more brownish one, which I think suits the dwarves better.

2. I mixed Nuln Oil Gloss with Citadel Contrast Basilicanum Grey (80%/20%). Then I applied this wash only in the recesses to make the basecoat as clean as possible. If you are familiar with oils, I would suggest using a pin wash of any dark brown/black directly. I use Nuln Oil Gloss because it flows better into the recesses, but if you don't have it, you can use your regular Nuln Oil with a drop of gloss medium.

1. Painting true metallic gold on a dark base coat is challenging. For this reason, I first applied a smooth layer, mixing Ak Interactive Old Gold and Ak Interactive Deep Brown in equal parts, then I layered it with pure Old Gold to achieve the final basecoat.

2. I then wash the surface with a mixture of Citadel Agrax Earthshade and Citadel Contrast Gore-Gruntas Fur (70%/30%).

3. I highlighted the gold with a mixture of Ak Interactive Old Gold and Vallejo Air Silver (80%/20%).

PAINTING PROCESS

1. As always, the most important thing is to start with a uniform base coat. In this case, I started with Ak Interactive Red Beige. It's better to paint 2/3 diluted coats than a single thick coat.

2. I created a wash by mixing Citadel Bugman's Glow, Citadel Contrast Blood Angels and Citadel Rhinox Hide (70%/10%/20%). I diluted this mixture evenly with Citadel Contrast Medium.

3. I highlighted the skin tone with Ak Interactive Red Beige. I painted the entire skin tone and left the darker color only in the recesses. If you want a simple gaming model, you can stop here!

4. I mixed a bit of Ak Interactive Ivory into the Red Beige (70%/30%). This way I highlighted the skin tone and diluted the mixture with water and a drop of Citadel Lahmian Medium (2 parts color, 1 part water).

PAINTING PROCESS

1. I mixed Ak Interactive Leather Brown and Ak Interactive Sahara Yellow in equal parts and applied a smooth base coat.

2. Then I washed the whole beard with Agrax Earthshade, diluted with Citadel Contrast Medium (2:1).

3. I added a small amount of Sahara Yellow to the base coat and highlighted the beard. If you want a quick gaming level, you can stop here!

4. I highlighted the beard with pure Sahara yellow, concentrating only on the upper half of the beard. This way you get more contrast and... it saves time.

5. I highlighted the upper part of the beard with a mixture of Ak Interactive Sahara Yellow and Ak Interactive Pastel Yellow (70%/30%).

PAINTING PROCESS

1. I painted a smooth basecoat with Ak Interactive Afro Shadow.

2. I highlighted with Ak Interactive Redskin Shadow

3. I mixed Ak Interactive Redskin Shadow and Ak Interactive Deep Brown in equal parts and highlighted the surface again. For a quick gaming model, you can stop here!

4. I painted a final light using pure Ak Interactive Deep Brown.

1/2/3. I wanted the gloves to be less saturated, so I replaced Deep Brown (which is a warm and rich tone) with Ak Interactive Ochre to paint this alternative brown.

PAINTING PROCESS

1. I mixed Ak Interactive Cold Green and Ak Interactive Greenskin Punch in equal parts, to get a rich and deep green.

2. I added Ak Interactive Slime Green to the previous mixture (50%/50%) and airbrushed a zenithal light. As you can see, I highlighted a small part of the shield this way.

3. Then I painted a quick " edge" highlight with the same mixture (you can skip this step if you want). I painted the shield frame using the same process as the gold on the helmet.

FINAL RESULT

The Clan Warrior is now ready to be based and join the ranks of the brave mountain warriors! I hope this guide was helpful for you. I wanted to show you a mixture of quick and slightly more advanced techniques. Of course, it's up to you to adapt this method to your needs.

Most clan warriors are represented by metallic surfaces: Start with a spray or airbrush base of a good shiny metal and you will already have a good portion of the model completed.

You can then spend most of your time enhancing the beards of your dwarves.
